Welcome to Owensboro Works' Employer Broadcast

In response to local industry demands Skills Inc. was created in 1990 as a free service to assist employers with finding qualified applicants in the Green River region. After several years of success with the program, changes in both technology and administration left Skills Inc. with a demand for a higher quality database and more efficient accessibility. During 2007, the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation, Owensboro Community and Technical College, Green River Area Development District and Northwest KY Forward formed a partnership focused on redeveloping Skills Inc. and launched Owensboro Works/Green River Works/Northwest KY Works. These combined sites currently contain over 6,000 registered job seekers mainly from Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster counties in Kentucky. Job seekers are required to possess an Associate degree or higher, professional certification or complete the WorkKeys test administered through KCTCS before receiving approval on the site. Many job seekers are currently employed with extensive experience in several areas including construction, food service, manufacturing, health services, and information technology. During 2008, the OW partners have taken great strides to respond to employer feedback and further improve the site. Search criteria has been narrowed, categories added, and a News & Calendar section incorporated to allow employers, colleges and more to promote opportunities for employers and job seekers alike. If you have never utilized Owensboro Works or have and found it inefficient, please visit the site again at http://www.owensboroworks.com/.
